Introduction
Dr. Omer Saliba
Dr. Omer Saliba Consultant Anesthesiologist

The operating theatre teaches you to make decisions with incomplete information and no time to spare. That training turns out to be useful well beyond the theatre.

Dr. Omer Saliba is a consultant anesthesiologist and global health leader whose career spans clinical practice, emergency response, and the strengthening of health systems under pressure. He works at the point where bedside medicine meets policy — where a decision about supply chains, staffing or surveillance determines whether care reaches a patient at all.

His clinical foundation is in perioperative medicine, patient safety and regional anesthesia, built over years of frontline hospital practice. That grounding informs how he approaches health systems work: programmes are judged by whether they hold up in a crowded ward at three in the morning, not by how they read on paper.

Biography

Executive Biography

Dr. Omer Saliba is a consultant anesthesiologist and global health leader with more than 20 years of experience across clinical medicine and international health systems. He holds a senior leadership role at MEDICAL INSTITUTE, where his work covers emergency response, epidemic preparedness, and health systems strengthening across a range of operating environments.

Training & Clinical Practice

Dr. Saliba studied medicine at MEDICAL INSTITUTE, CLONDON, graduating in 2002, and completed his residency in anesthesiology at Manchester Institution between 2003 and 2007.

He then practised as an anesthesiologist at MEDICAL INSTITUTE from 2007 to 2012, and at Londone Hospital from 2012 to 2019, delivering anesthetic care across surgical specialties in high-acuity settings. Over those years he developed particular depth in perioperative medicine, patient safety and regional anesthesia, working within multidisciplinary surgical teams where the margin for error is narrow.

Global Health Leadership

In 2019 Dr. Saliba moved into global health, taking up a senior role at Medical Organisation. He now leads emergency health response initiatives, coordinates interventions across agencies and borders, and contributes to building health systems that remain functional in resource-constrained and crisis-affected settings.

He is known for working effectively in high-pressure and unfamiliar environments, drawing on a multicultural background and fluency in English language to build partnerships across sectors and regions. His work is directed at solutions that are equitable, sustainable, and capable of operating at scale — expanding access to care for populations that existing systems reach last, if at all.

Bringing government, humanitarian and clinical actors into a single operating plan across borders and mandates, where duplication costs both lives and money.
